Local Craft Tales 2019

A series of 4 different and unique workshops by local craftsmen from Chitpur by Art Rickshaw and The Community Art Project in Association with The Chitpur Craft Collective.

Historically Bengal’s cultural centre and artist colony, the Chitpur Road has been home to craftsmen since the seventeenth century. Located in North Calcutta, it is one of the oldest roads in the city, and home to several craftspersons, who have been residents for over three generations. Around every corner, Chitpur reveals a new craft, a different story, and a unique neighbourhood.
Local Craft Tales is a celebration of these craftsmen and their fascinating crafts - each different from one another. These crafts and their creators tell a story about the history and traditions of the local people and culture, they're often beautifully made and are a unique treasure to return home with.

Join us from the 6th to the 8th of September, for direct interaction with the artisans and learn about their crafts through exciting workshops and demos.
